Grand rising and salutations to you all.
Feels good to be writing a newsletter after a long lapse. I have lots to fill you in on.
But first… Hi! How are you? How is your body? How is your heart?
I’m well and healthy (and so is Karma and Puma and Mustafa).
I’ve been doing a lot of self-practice – asana, tai chi, meditation, journaling. Pausing.
As spring emerges, so do I.
I have greater clarity but more importantly the courage to step into my truth.
The truth of WHAT I teach. Is it yoga? Is it mindfulness? Is it trauma recovery? It’s Just Being and Being Just, as individuals and as a community. That’s what I teach.
I use different modalities and life experience to help students feel and accept their being simply and authentically. I use different modalities and life experiences to challenge what being “just” is in our actions, words and intentions.
More to come.
I have greater clarity on the truth of WHO I teach. I teach who is seeking. That’s not just something to sound dope or deep. Students find the teacher. I teach those who come.
I have greater clarity on the truth of HOW I teach. Ya’ll know. I’m a little wordy and pretty workshoppy. But also virtual and in-person. I don’t have to choose. I teach in both environments.
I have greater clarity on the truth of WHEN I teach. I was teaching ENTIRELY too much.
So, I’ve scaled back and I’m OK with that.
I have greater clarity on the truth of the WORTH of my teaching.
I have been teaching as a donation-based studio for 12 years. It’s amazing I’ve been able to pay the bills (sometimes late) but pay them nonetheless. But I haven’t been really paying myself.
I am going to slide into sliding scale pricing and flat affordable price points for classes and workshops and trainings. I will always offer some classes and programs for free or donation. But I’m coming into my worth, while still holding onto my principles that we shouldn’t have to be wealthy to afford wellness.
So what’s coming next?
More being and becoming.
More workshops on being. Check out the Mettā-Verse Loving Kindness Workshop April 6. More trainings. More private lessons. More speaking and presenting. More writing about this experience of community outreach yoga and trauma recovery. More of my own practice and hopefully more of your own.
I am deeply grateful for all the students and supporters who’ve kept Just B Yoga alive and relevant over the past two years. So many of you have made Just B Yoga and me a part of your lives and I’m honored and humbled.
