Gratitude is inherent in a yoga practice. Gratitude for the ability to move. Gratitude for the day – thus we salute the sun and its rising.
Santosha is a niyama from the sutras meaning contentment and gratitude.
Just B has a lot to be grateful for. What started this spring as a free yoga class with the generous donated space at Shabazz Academy, has now sprung into a full-force yoga service with a studio and teachers and so many dear and wonderful students.
Yoga – to yoke, or create union – has unified us and continues to do so in many ways. The Just B goal is to extend healing and holistic modalities – yoga and tai chi – to under-served communities.
Lansing has seen some dark days but we don’t have to wear it. We can pick ourselves up. There’s a lot of spirit and love under the rough surface.
Just B has been blessed with students of all ranges of means, abilities and needs. The constant has been a human connection and cooperative spirit.
In honor of the gracious generosity of others and to express my deepest gratitude, Just B will hold two special Thanksgiving Day yoga classes at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. These will be 90-minute vinyasa classes. Two-thirds of the proceeds will go to help a Just B family in need. Bring a a donation and some food, or just some food.
So, come join us for a special practice before you get your Turkey or Tofurkey on. Share with the Just B community in celebration of an amazing year. And help a neighbor and friend.
(Just B can fit about 16-18 mats – let’s fill the place for the first time!)
Namaste.
B
