Are you in recovery from drugs or alcohol, or curious about sobriety? Do you experience traumatic responses to stimuli or memory?
Our Happy Hour Recovery Yoga (donation-based) is a weekly class (Fridays 5:30 p.m. EST) designed to help navigate the emotions and cyclical behaviors that keep us stuck in negative patterns, build a healthier relationship with our physical bodies and shift how we relate to others.

Yoga is a system of living based on principled behaviors, healthy body and breath, as well as right-sizing ourselves with our senses.
Using the eight limbs of yoga, group shares and mindful intention-setting, we expand the yoga experience from a solitary journey on our mat and share as a community. We laugh and sometimes, yes, we cry.
In addiction or alcoholism, our senses are often either numbed or enhanced and in overdrive. The experience sends the rest of our existence topsy turvy – perhaps we neglect our physical wellbeing, or our emotions are erratic and reactionary, our faith and belief in a higher purpose may be non-existent. Sometimes we have difficulty making connections with others and sharing what’s going on due to shame, anxiety over judgment, fear.
Recovery yoga helps soften the reaction around our senses and how we perceive what’s going on inside of us and around us. Each class involves different postures and different levels of intensity – meeting us where we are. Some days are more invigorating. Others are more soothing.
The format of the 90-minute class is the same each time.
We set an intention with a reading or pulling affirmation cards.
We have a movement class (asana) for about 45 minutes.
Then we circle up and read the group commitments (ground rules that establish consent and a safe environment for sharing).
We share openly with one another to help us connect with one another, seeing that we are not alone and practicing speaking our truth as it is that day in our individual recovery journeys. No one has to share.
We invite you to join us some time, whether you are a regular yoga practitioner or someone new to recovery. Let’s move the issues in our tissues and plant new seeds for our being.
