This came to mind as I responded to someone on my Boot ‘n Scoot blog.
The topic was global warming and being mindful to decrease our carbon footprint.
But this person’s response was essentially that not only do they not believe man is the cause or major contributor to global warming, but he doesn’t want to be TAXED to pay to fix the problem.
Here’s the blog post “How about Smog Out Day” and you can see the commenter at the bottom. I hope you enjoy the read.
So out of the enormity of this issue this person is choosing to focus on how much they will have to pay? Waaah.
I don’t think I had much to do with the economic downturn but my taxes helped write the check to pay off the bank bailout.
I’m sorry we have bigger issues here.
When the rubber hits the proverbial road we all will have to pony up more than just some greenbacks to turn back climate change and decrease carbon emissions. We’ll have to change lifestyles, transportation dependencies, entertainment habits – a lot. We will have to PRACTICE living in a wholesome, healthy and healing way for this planet.
That takes effort and mindfulness. That takes discipline and resilience and consistency. It takes compassion and patience. It takes forgiveness and selflessness.
Practice. Not perfect.
Namaste.
