Morning mysore.
I’m grateful to my friend and fellow teacher Jade Sims for practicing with me Friday and this morning at 6 a.m. We practiced mysore at our own pace but there was no chatting. Just a room full of breath.
Two people practicing in silence at sunrise is a big step toward cultivating my home practice.
A regular self practice has been something I haven’t been good at with my yoga. It’s not like my tai chi. I can get up in the morning, move furniture and play my forms to my own inner rhythm. Yoga has always felt different. Roll out the mat and get distracted by the fuzzies on the floor, the cat that wants to walk under my down dog.
Ashtanga has been a nice bridge for me to build a solitary practice. It’s like my tai chi practice because it’s a set sequence. I don’t have to think about winging it and figuring out where my body should go. Maybe a total improvisational practice is in my future. I don’t know.
Finally a night class!
I’ll be teaching a power yoga class 7:30 p.m. on Mondays starting TONIGHT!
Get in there and light your fire with Just B.
I’ve only had a.m. classes up until now. I’ve subbed some night classes. There’s an entirely different energy in the night rooms. It’s got more juice, more spice.
Folks have stress to release. They have garbage to burn.
Come get your flame on with me.
Still need some donations for the free community class
My free community yoga class starts April 14 at 6:45.
What do we need?
Mats
Blocks
Straps
Bolsters
If you have any old or unwanted items please let me know.
Knit-in: Wanna help kids?
Kids in trauma at a fire, shooting, car accident – you get the picture – need a little pick-me-up.
Lansing police used to carry teddy bears in their patrol cars in case they ran into a case with children.
But with budget cuts, etc. they’re out of bears!
That’s where the Lansing Comfort Bear Project comes in. There will be a knit-in tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Schuler Books at Eastwood to knit up some bears for kids. Bring size 6 knitting needles aand some yarn. Rae’s Yarn Boutique is also offering free bear kits with pattern, yarn and needles to the first 50 who arrive.
