In March, Kathy Martin, our friend and office assistant, went to Haiti on a mission trip. Many of you at Just B Yoga contributed backpacks and other resources for the children.
Kathy will share her journey with us in a presentation on Friday, May 15 at 6 p.m. Light snacks will be provided. FREE (nominal donations accepted to cover facility costs)
From Kathy:
“Visiting Haiti as a mission outreach of the MSU Wesley Foundation of the United Methodist Church was a heart and eye opening adventure that affected my life profoundly on both sides of the Caribbean.
Here, the love poured out in both backpacks for children of the LeChandelier school of Croix-des-Bouquets Haiti, as well as financial support that provided scholarships for five children along with a variety of books, school supplies and learning tools to enrich the school’s curriculum.
I was truly blessed and amazed by the AWESOME community support, and carried you all with me as I was your hands and feet with the children at the school.
In Haiti, I was encouraged by Rachelle Elien, founder of the social awareness non-profit group FONCUS (search FONCUS on Facebook) and learned so much from her about Haiti and her love for her country.
I also felt the courage, strength and dedication of the people, particularly women, and more specifically, women with children, to persevere during very difficult times in hopefulness, as we explored leadership possibilities together for women in Haiti in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2015. The experience was something I could not have imagined.
In thanks for your prayers and support of all types, you are warmly invited to a picture journey following my steps in Haiti in March. I hope you can come.
I will be at Just B Yoga (106 Island Ave, Lansing MI 48910) on Friday May15th at 6 pm. I will also be presenting at the First United Methodist Church (3827 Delta River Dr, Lansing MI 48906) at 10 am on Thursday May 21st. You are welcome to either or both.
Bring your curiosity, your international spirit, and your love for all.”
