“I am the whole reason they existed at all”

Lorraine Rachel Lonesome was born March 15, 1921 to Benjamin and Helen Lonesome. She was the last of seven children. Spoiled rotten. Her father was born a slave.

I’ve been away for a minute.

My grandmother, my mother’s mother, passed away at 7 a.m. Dec. 25 after five years with dementia and other health issues. She was 88.

I am working through emotional stuff, yep. But this post is meant as a tribute.

Lorraine Rachel Lonesome was born March 15, 1921 to Benjamin and Helen Lonesome. She was the last of seven children. Spoiled rotten. Her father was born a slave.

She made life a magical kingdom for me at least through age 8 or so and I’m grateful. I needed to believe in miracles and magic and wonder. Everything else in my life wasn’t full of sheen and shimmer.

I hope you enjoy this tribute and bit of a history a lesson.
