Peel away the layers at an inner city yoga studio

Lately some of the calls to Just B Yoga have had a similar theme: “I don’t think I’ll be comfortable there.” “Will I be safe?” It’s been a difficult one to respond to without having a defensive edge in my voice. It’s also been a sad reality to face about how we’re perceived.

Happy Birthday Baratunde

Sept. 11 has always been a special day to me, not one of destruction and evil. I share this, not only as a gift to my brother, but a wish for all of us to take a moment today to reflect on life, birth, being and becoming. Namaste. *** Thirty-four years ago today I became

Happy Birthday Ma

Today is Aug. 17, Arnita Thurston’s birthday. She used to say even if she hadn’t given birth to me and my brother she would have liked us and wanted to know us. The feeling is more than mutual. In honor of this day of awesomeness, I will:

More than 20 dedicated yogis shared their energy and light through this intense practice. Keep shining ya’ll. B

Vandalism, Yoga and Forgiveness

Our new bike rack with the custom-welded logo was vandalized yesterday. A student told a Just B teacher that they saw some “kids” ripping the letters off. Intentional meanness. Blatant and open daytime vandals. I could go on and on about feeling violated and perplexed at such a display of evil. But I won’t. It’s
